I am outraged at this fiasco. You know, if there had been one brain-dead white woman who was going to be taken off her feeding tube, the choppers would have been at the New Orleans Convention Centre in 15 minutes.
Meanwhile, Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael D. Brown, a Bush appointee, is also feeling the heat.(Source: "Bush responds to heat: Overhauling schedule amid political storm", Winnipeg Free Press, page A7, September 4th, 2005)From failed Republican congressional candidate to ousted "czar" of an Arabian horse association, there was little in Brown's background to prepare him for the fury of Katrina.
Brown now faces furious criticism of the federal response to the disaster. He provoked some of it himself when he conceded FEMA didn't know thousands of refugees were trapped at New Orleans's convention centre without food or water until officials heard it on the news.
"He's done a hell of a job, because I'm not aware of any Arabian horses being killed in this storm," jabbed Kate Hale, former Miami-Dade emergency management chief.
